IIASA Deputy Director General Nebojsa Nakicenovic served as the project leader and on the organizing committee for the APCC Report, which follows the model of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He will join his co-organizers on 17 September to present the key findings of the report.
IIASA’s role in the APCC was primarily to organize the external review process of the assessment and to ensure its scientific quality, transparency, and comprehensiveness. IIASA’s long experience with climate change studies and modeling was used to select both expert reviewers and review editors for the final report.
IIASA researchers also contributed research to the report: Mitigation of Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gases Researcher Wilfried Winiwarter served as a Coordinating Lead Author, Risk Policy and Vulnerability Researcher Reinhard Mechler served as a Lead Author, and a number of IIASA researchers contributed findings to the report.
