The IIASA Council governs the Institute including setting its strategy; establishing relations with governments and multi-national bodies; determining financial and managerial policies, and subject areas for research of the institute; and for ensuring that the activities of the institute are in line with its objectives, strategy and the interest of the national member organizations.
The Council appoints the Institute’s Director General (DG) and CEO, Deputy DG/Deputy CEO upon the proposal of the DG/CEO, and the following committees to carry out its work and achieve IIASA’s mission and objectives:
