Uncertainty in global land cover maps highlighted

In a paper just published in Environmental Research Letters highlighting discrepancies in cropland and forest classifications between the global land cover datasets, IIASA researchers warn that the spatial disagreements are very high and could impact the outcomes of assessment or modeling exercises.

The paper calls for more research and ground data collection to improve the accuracy of land cover information.
