Press Conference: Wednesday 26 April, 11:00–12:00
Food security: how extreme weather and other hazards affect what we drink and eat
Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the agriculture and forestry sectors could lead to increased food prices—but new research identifies strategies that could help mitigate climate change while avoiding steep hikes in food prices. IIASA researcher Stefan Frank will present his work on climate change and food security as part of a press conference.  Livestream

Press Conference: Tuesday, 25 April, 09:00–10:00
Water hazards: How floods and storms impact us and how we impact water resources
Most of the groundwater in the world that is accessible by deep wells is fossil groundwater, stored beneath the earth's surface for more than 12,000 years, and that ancient water is not immune to modern contamination, as has been widely assumed. ETH Zurich researcher James Kirchner will present results of work done with IIASA researcher Yoshihide Wada, published on 25 April in the journal Nature Geoscience. Livestream
