Australia

2014 was Australia's second year as a member country of IIASA with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) serving as National Member Organization. More

Austria

In 2014, Austrian institutions and IIASA collaborated on numerous projects from the Austrian Panel on Climate Change to projecting the future population of all  countries in the world. More

Brazil

Activities between Brazil and IIASA expanded in 2014 with new research collaborations and capacity building activities. More

China

Numerous collaborations between Chinese and IIASA researchers continued in 2014 in areas ranging from air pollution to energy investments to virtual water. A significant number of Chinese students took part in IIASA's programs for young scientists.  More

Egypt

Investigating the benefits of renewable energy investments in North Africa and exploring Egypt's future population were two areas of Egypt-related research at IIASA during 2014.  More

Finland

Notable joint activities between IIASA and Finnish researchers in 2014 included the development of a research project on the Arctic and analyses of resilience of regional economies. More

Germany

Joint studies in 2014 focused on the complex global systems that affect Germany, its economy, and its people. Research topics included transformation paths to a sustainable energy system and the impact of demographic change in Germany. More

India

In 2014 IIASA’s applied systems analysis brought a global perspective, interdisciplinary research expertise, and policy relevance to issues ranging from the future of India’s energy system to increasing the country’s food production. More

Indonesia

In 2014 joint activities between Indonesia and IIASA ranged from the assessment of competing uses of tropical forests to developing capacity among young Indonesian scientists for systems analysis. More

Japan

Activities between IIASA and Japanese researchers in 2014 advanced research methods and provided insights for policy in areas ranging from climate change to technology diffusion. More

Malaysia

Collaborations with Malaysian institutions were explored in the areas of palm oil and tropical deforestation in 2014.  More

Mexico

In June 2014 Mexico became IIASA’s twenty-second member country. The Mexican National Committee for IIASA, which includes the Mexican National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), serves as Mexico’s National Member Organization (NMO) to IIASA. More

Netherlands

In 2014 research collaborations between IIASA and Dutch researchers developed a range of research tools and methods in areas including air pollution, climate change, and extreme floods.  More

Norway

Research to improve the management of fisheries and air pollution were among the productive collaborations between IIASA and Norwegian researchers in 2014.  More

Pakistan

Collaborations with partners in Pakistan in 2014 explored air pollution, ways to increase agricultural productivity, and how Pakistan can capture the demographic dividend. More

Republic of Korea

In 2014 collaborations between researches from IIASA and the Republic of Korea ranged from modeling economic growth to identifying measures to tackle air pollution. More

Russian Federation

In 2014 IIASA and Russian researchers collaborated on a range of topics including the challenges and opportunities of Eurasian economic integration, population aging in Russia, and advancing the methods of systems analysis.  More

South Africa

The Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program was again the highlight of joint activities between IIASA and South Africa in 2014.  More

Sweden

In 2014 research collaborations shed light on tackling climate change in Sweden, on smarter ways to manage Swedish forests, and on the transition to a sustainable energy system in Sweden. More

Ukraine

In 2014 researchers at IIASA and the Ukraine explored the integrated modeling of issues ranging from the food, energy, and water nexus to economic integration in Eurasia. More

United States of America

Highlights of the numerous collaborations between IIASA and US researchers in 2014 included global model comparisons in the areas of energy and agriculture, governance of transboundary water resources, and the implications of increasing use of unconventional natural gas. More

Vietnam

2014 was Vietnam's first full year as a member country of IIASA  with its leading scientific and technological agency, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), serving as National Member Organization (NMO). More
