2019 YSSP Fund Recipients: (L-R) Lilit Ovsepyan, Moradhvaj, Hoang Anh Tran




Lilit Ovsepyan from Russia was awarded the Petr Aven Fellowship. She is working as part of the Ecosystem Services and Management Program and is co-supervised by Anatoly Shvidenko and Dmitry Shchepashchenko. Her YSSP research project is devoted to environmental benefits related to carbon sequestration after land use change. 

Moradhvaj from India is the first recipient of the Jyoti and Kirit Parikh Fellowship. Under expert supervision of Wolfgang Lutz and Nandita Saikia from the World Population Program, Moradhvaj will use a longitudinal survey to compare the relative effect of education and economic status on adult health and mortality in India.

Hoang Anh Tran from Vietnam is hosted by the Ecosystem Services and Management Program and co-supervised by Piera Patrizio and Juraj Balkovic. During her time at IIASA, Hoang will work on extending the current version of the IIASA BeWhere model configured for Vietnam, to eventually compute policy-relevant simulations on co-firing biomass for electricity in her home country.
