This virtual summer school guides the application of the water resources and hydrological model CWatM (Community Water Model). Participants will run CWatM for a large basin, describe its water cycle, compare with satellite imagery, and calibrate the model. Successful assignments award a CWatM Level A1 certification.

Background: All are invited to apply. Applicants should have access to a computer and an interest in learning the beginnings of Python, GitHub, Google Earth Engine, and CWatM.

How to apply?
1. Complete the google form you can access by clicking "apply now" below.
2. Prepare a labeled diagram of the water cycle (sketch/drawing/illustration/infographic) and send it to cwatm.school@iiasa.ac.at. All answers are welcome.
3. A course fee of 120€ will have to be paid. Candidates may request a scholarship, in which case they will be asked to prepare a second assignment.

Application deadline: Wednesday, 22 May 2024.

All applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be contacted by 24 May with steps for Round 2. Candidates will then have the opportunity to update their applications by Thursday, 30 May. All candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application by Tuesday, 4 June 2024.

IIASA encourages light research and expects a commitment of around two hours for the application. For this purpose, a more experienced answer is equal to one from someone just discovering the subject.
