Hotel Favorita is an art-nouveau style Austria Trend hotel, located in the center of the city, next to the Favoritenstrasse, one of Vienna's longest shopping streets. The nearest underground stations (line U1) are Suedtirolerplatz and Keplerplatz. Hotel facilities include a steam bath, sauna (both free of charge for guests) and underground car park (10€/day for guests).
The discounted prices (offered for participants of the CSM'2002 workshop, if booking is made through IIASA) are € 65,- or € 82.50 (for a single or a double room, respectively) for one night, including breakfast buffet and taxes. For more details...

Reasonably priced hotels may be difficult to arrange at a later date. Therefore we have made a block booking in the Favorita Hotel. Participants who would like to stay in this hotel should complete the final registration form not later than May 31, 2002 (we may not be able to help you in arranging accommodation later).

Participants who prefer to make own arrangements for accommodation are encouraged to do this well in advance.

Local transportation

Vienna has an efficient public local   transportation system.   Here is some basic information and advice on how to reach the workshop hotel.

Tickets for public transportation can be purchased from ticket machines on the busses and trams, or in underground stations, and at the tobacconists. One can purchase various types of tickets: one-trip (2€ from a vending machine in the vehicles, 1.5€ prepaid [at tobacconists and from vending machines in the underground stations]), daily (24-hour, 5€), 72 hour (12€, includes some sight-seeing benefits), weekly (12.5€), 8-day (24€, valid for 8 days within a year).
The taxi fare in Vienna is 1.09€ per kilometer with a starting cost of 2€.

To the workshop hotel from the airport:

To the workshop hotel from Nord Bahnhof:

U1 underground direction Reumannplatz until Suedtirolerplatz station, and then walk about 5 min. up Laxenburgerstrasse.

To the workshop hotel from West Bahnhof:

Take tram No. 18 for several stops to Sudtirolerplatz, and then walk about 5 min. up Laxenburgerstrasse. Alternatively, take U3 underground direction Erdberg, get off at Stephansplatz station, then take the U1 underground direction Reumannplatz until Suedtirolerplatz station.

To the workshop hotel from Sued-Bahnhof:

Take tram No. 18 for one stop to Sudtirolerplatz, and then walk about 5 min. up Laxenburgerstrasse.
