TNT research for the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5), the book, Energy Technology Innovation: Learning from Historical Successes and Failures, and the Austrian Climate Change Report will be translated to different scientific and policy constituencies through a range of collaborative research projects, joint publications, and dissemination activities. These activities will be performed in close collaboration with the Energy (ENE) Program.
Following the IIASA research planning cycle, 2015 will see a new long-term research strategy and plan for IIASA’s technology-related research being developed. As part of this long-term strategy development, Arnulf Grubler will prepare an Advanced Grant proposal to the European Research Council (ERC) to secure long-term external funding for basic technology research at IIASA.
There will be further research on two cross-cutting activities, the Advanced Systems Analysis Forum and Unconventional Gas.
Research will also continue in the domain of agent-based modeling of consumer choices and social network effects.
TNT will also contribute to the new institute-wide efforts exploring the nexus between energy, land, and water, in collaboration with the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
