The research on "Forest fires and adaptation options in Europe" was carried out together with the Joint Research Centre (JRC) within the MEDIATION project of the European Union Seventh Framework program (FP7) [1]. The research was published in the journal Regional Environmental Change in September 2014 as open access material.
The results of the research attracted much interest from a broad audience and were highlighted through a range of media, including Science Newsline, The Guardian newspaper, News Deutschland, Austrian News Agency, Kurier, ORF.at, and others. IIASA scientists provided feedback and additional information to the journalists who requested comments.
