A series of REDD-PAc events took place in Douala/Cameroon and in the nearby Western Cameroon region in the first half of April.

The REDD-PAC mid-term meeting brought together researchers from IIASA, the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) and the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE) to review project results achieved in the last two years and identify priorities for the remaining project time.

The subsequent field trip to a project of the German cooperation (GiZ) as well as the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC) in the Mount Cameroon region sharpened the participants’ understanding of land use strategies in the region.

The second week was dedicated to the a session of the REDD-PAC School: National experts from the four pilot countries (Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Central African Republic) together with IIASA researchers developed land use models to be able to evaluate the impacts of various development scenarios in the countries of the Congo basin.
