About the speaker

Elke Loichinger joined IIASA's World Population (POP) Program as a Research Assistant in October 2009 and is currently a Research Scholar. She was awarded a Doctorate from the University of Economics and Business (WU) in 2012 for her thesis on questions related to labor potential in aging societies, with a focus on Europe.

Dr. Loichinger has a diploma in economic geography from the University of Regensburg, Germany (2004) and a Master of Public Policy from Duke University (2007). Before joining IIASA, she was a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany.
