The Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital, aims to be a leader in the demographic analyses of human capital formation and its impact on society, the economy and the environment. It is a collaboration between the Department of Demography at the University of Vienna, the World Population Program at IIASA, and the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID) of the (OeAW).

Since 1977, IIASA’s annual 3-month Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) offers research opportunities to talented young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change. From June through August accepted participants work within the Institute’s research programs under the guidance of IIASA scientific staff. Funding is provided through IIASA's National Member Organizations.
Every year IIASA provides full funding for several postdoctoral positions, for up to 2 years duration. Scholars are expected to conduct their own research in collaboration with one or more of IIASA's research programs or special projects in an interdisciplinary way.
