Natural disasters continue to pose tremendous challenges to governments and communities around the world; over the last 50 years the frequency of, and hence losses from, natural and technological disasters has been steadily increasing. This is due in part to continued urban population growth in those areas most affected by natural hazards and climate change.
With a mandate to establish a platform to share knowledge, identify collaborative activities and implement international projects in disaster risk reduction and resilience to disasters, GADRI aims to foster relationships through the participation and collaboration of diverse academic networks and international institutions. GADRI’s membership consists of approximately 91 member organizations from 27 countries.
