ALPS Symposium

Deputy Director General Nebojsa Nakicenovic will attend and deliver the keynote presentation at the annual ALPS International Symposium, hosted by the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE) with support from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

This year's Symposium theme is entitled: "Moving toward Sustainable Climate Change Actions" and will bring together Japanese climate scientists and ministers with other leading international sciences to share new knowledge and ideas regarding policies to achieve a sustainable future.  In his keynote speech, Dr. Nakicenovic will discuss various strategies, or pathways, to achieving sustainable climate goals.  He will draw on recent examples including transformational pathways developed by IIASA for the Global Energy Assessment, as well as the Representative Concentration Pathways developed for the IPCC.
