Read how IIASA works with research partners across the globe to deliver world-class research.
Thomas Gasser joined the Ecosystems Services and Management Program (ESM) as a Research Scholar in September 2016. As the main developer of the OSCAR model, he brings his expertise in 'simple' Earth system modeling to the team. Taking part in the Imbalance-P project, he also works on improving further the physical modeling in OSCAR, and on integrating the model with the social science-oriented modeling tools available at IIASA.
Dr. Gasser holds a master-level diploma in multidisciplinary science from École Polytechnique, another in environmental engineering from Ponts ParisTech, and a PhD in climate sciences from Université Pierre et Marie Curie. Prior to working with IIASA, he conducted his doctoral research at CIRED and his post-doctoral research at LSCE/IPSL; both on the dual topic of modeling couplings and feedbacks in the Earth system and quantifying the contribution of nations to human-induced climate change.
