18th World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control

The 18th World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC, http://www.ifac-control.org) took place in Milan (http://www.ifac2011.org).

The aims of the Federation and the Congress are to promote the science and technology of control in the broadest sense in all systems, whether it is, for example, engineering, physical, biological, social or economic, in both theory and application. IFAC is also concerned with the impact of control technology on society.

The ASA Program was represented at the Congress in two sessions by Alexander Tarasyev (co-organizer ): “Dynamic Games: Theory, Modeling and Applications” and “Optimization and Modeling of Dynamic Systems”. Several regular papers, by ASA staff and collaborators - Alexander Tarasyev, Tapio Palokangas, Luca Lambertini, and Stefan Pickl - were also included in the Program of the Congress.

Alexander Tarasyev was re-elected as Chair of the IFAC Technical Committee on Optimal Control (TC 2.4, http://multimedia.ustu.ru/optimal_control) for the next triennial.
