Yurii Yermoliev was invited to speak at the Norwegian-Ukrainian Summer School

The Norwegian-Ukrainian Summer School on Vulnerability Assessment of Critical Infrastructure in the Post-Soviet era: Case Ukraine took place in Kiev, Ukraine on 21-30 September, 2017. The School organized by the National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine (NASU), Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine, Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics (NASU), and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Yurii Yermoliev gave a series of lectures on “Modeling and Robust management of global-local interdependencies and systemic risks for sustainable food-water-energy-environmental NEXUS” (co-authored with A. G. Zagorodny, V. L. Bogdanov E. (from NASU) and E. Rovenskaya, M. Obersteiner, P. Havlik, T. Ermolieva and others (from IIASA)) . The lectures addressed methodological challenges of adequate model linkage techniques for management of exogenous and endogenous (unintentional and intentional) dependent systemic threats, which cannot be treated by simple independent models.

List of lectures

  • Challenges of Modern Advanced Systems Analysis problems
  • Downscaling and nonparametric estimation for decision support models
  • How to make decisions under uncertainty? Advanced methodology delivers robust solutions for improving energy efficiency of technological portfolios
  • Linkage of stochastic integrated assessment models and probabilistic robust downscaling methods for integrated water, food, energy security management under uncertainty and risk: Local and Global Scales
  • Planning sustainable regional economic developments: Linking distributed sectorial models under uncertainty and asymmetric information
