Aleksandra Falkiewicz and Linlin Xia received awards at SA-YSSP

Advanced System Analysis program is pleased to report that Aleksandra Falkiewicz was awarded a three-month Systems Analysis Scholarship and Linlin Xia received Honorable Mention for their work completed during the Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program (SA-YSSP).

Aleksandra Falkiewicz is a PhD student at the Institute of Mathematics, Lodz University of Technology, Poland. She carried out her research project supervised by Alexey Davydov (ASA, IIASA) and Jacek Banasiak (University of Kwaza-Natal, Durban, South Africa). She worked on asymptotic behavior of dynamical systems on complex networks.

Linlin Xia is a PhD. student in Beijing Normal University, School for Environment. She conducted her research during the three month program under the supervision of Brian Fath (ASA, IIASA) and Ursula Scharler (University of Kwaza-Natal, Durbin, South Africa).  She used methods from ecological network analysis to investigate the impact use land-use change to Beijing's urban metabolism.  Her research has subsequently been published in the Science of the Total Environment.
