Institute of Mountain Risk Engineering, BOKU Vienna

The Institute of Mountain Risk Engineering considers the combination of nature and engineering in a meaningful way, thereby solving the problems regarding natural hazard protection in our cultural landscape as its duty. Integrated approaches are used to do so. The postulate of sustainability under consideration of economic, ecological and social issues is their top-most commandment.

Their main research focuses on the development of solutions for current as well as future problems by using modern and scientific methods. The work at the Insti tute is part of various international collaborations and the connections to global projects are continuously being sought and developed. Practically orientated projects are continuously used to implement new methods by describing precise goals and tailoring the procedures along with the users.

Pathways

Adapting to increasing climate-related risks requires an evaluation of the decision points and pathways leading to or emerging from these decisions. The Pathways project analyses the key drivers and developments that influence these past and future dynamics. More
