Tellez-Leon is involved in several multidisciplinary projects. Her main project at IIASA however, pertains to network-based modeling and Big Data. Her innovative approach combines the analysis of networks with econometric models. She applies this analysis to the Mexican repo market in order to explore the structural properties of connection and determine their impact on Mexican spreads. That is, in all repo operations, there are other counterparts besides banks, and it is very important to know if their centrality in the interbank market also affects credit conditions with other intermediaries. This research contributes to the analysis of systemic risk in terms of the financial stability of Mexico.
Her scientific interests are in the fields of financial networks, systemic risk analysis, financial stability, agent-based modeling, econometric analysis, and macroeconomic and environmental modeling.
