IIASA welcomes young scientists

IIASA researchers and staff welcomed 51 young scientists from 20 countries to the 2013 Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP), which began today.

The YSSP brings advanced PhD students to Laxenburg, Austria, to work on independent research projects in collaboration with top researchers in their fields. Program participants this year are conducting research projects in fields ranging from ecosystems and land use, to climate change and risk management.

During the official opening of the 2013 YSSP, participants heard a background of the Institute from IIASA Director and Chief Executive Officer Prof. Dr. Pavel Kabat, as well as from Brian Fath, scientific coordinator for the program.
