From June to September, 52 talented young researchers, 28 male and 24 female, from 27 countries around the world will come to IIASA for the YSSP. The researchers, who were selected from a much larger application pool, represent the very best of their disciplines. The young scientists will pursue independent research projects during their time at IIASA, working closely alongside IIASA scientists.

The YSSP is one of the most successful programs at IIASA. Since 1977, the annual program has offered research opportunities to promising young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on global environmental, economic and social change. Many alumni of the program have gone on to highly successful careers in academia, policy, and government.

Alongside the YSSP researchers, IIASA will also host two science communication fellows. The fellows, early-career science communicators, will work in the IIASA Communications Department to gain hands on experience, assisting with editorial work, media relations, event coverage and social media. They will also work closely with the YSSP researchers to help communicate their work.
