Reflections on the Effect of Climate Change on Humanity

IIASA Deputy Director General for Science Leena Srivastava is invited to be a speaker at the 3rd editions of World Youth Forum 2019, an international platform for world youth to unite in building humanity and leave a positive footprint on regional and global levels.

World Youth Forum is a platform built by promising youth and supported by government of Arab Republic of Egypt . It sends a message of peace, prosperity, harmony, and progress to the entire world. It engages youth from around the globe in an enriching set-up, allowing them to exchange views and recommend initiatives to decision-makers and influential figures.

The 3rd edition of the World Youth forum will discuss seven topics, which include: industrial revolution, food security, union for the Mediterranean, women empowerment artificial Intelligence, block chain, and environmental challenges. Leena Srivastava will take part in the panel session on of “The Effects of Climate Change on Humanity: Impact & Solutions”. This session will focus on the urgently needed engagement with climate issues, by shedding light on Climate Change and its economic and social impact on humanity. Today, we face new phenomena such as climate refugees and the effect of the rising sea and ocean levels on biodiversity in addition to the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector, which ultimately affects the food security of the global population. This session will also address weather phenomena and its effect on the future of our planet in addition to the role of international organizations and governments in dealing with this issue.



About The World Youth Forum

The World Youth Forum was first held in November 2017 where it engaged youth globally in an enriching set-up, allowing them to exchange views and recommend initiatives to decision-makers and influential figures. Since then, it has attracted over 8000 youth from 163 countries as well as recognition from the UN International Human Rights Council.
