The aim of the Belmont Forum meeting, co-hosted by QNRD, is to accelerate delivery of the environmental research needed to remove critical barriers to sustainability. The event will include discussions of how the forum aligns and mobilizes resources with the international community, including the Future Earth initiative, of which IIASA is a partner.

At the event, Kabat will present the ISE, established in 2015. The primary focus of the ISE is to build and develop a global network of next generation systems based scientists and thinkers. Based on international cooperative mechanisms such as the Belmont Forum, it aims towards a collaborative global network addressing the challenges and opportunities of global research and capacity building.
