Roman Vasylyshyn, Ivan Lakyda and Dmytro Movchan, alumni of the IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program, and Andriy Bilous, who also collaborates with IIASA, received the 2014 Award for Young Scientists from the President of Ukraine, for their study, Bioproductivity of Ukrainian forests in a changing world. The project was conducted in collaboration with IIASA’s Ecosystems Services and Management Program.
All four young researchers have continued collaborating with IIASA in recent years through an EU-funded research project, Geoinformation Technologies, Spatio/ temporal Approaches, and Full Carbon Account for Improving Accuracy of GHG Inventories (GESAPU). The research has also been published in a joint IIASA/National University of Life and Environment Sciences of Ukraine book entitled Carbon, Climate and Land Use in Ukraine: Forest Sector.
