Alessandra Rocha Kortz is a Guest Postdoctoral Research Scholar (CAPES) with the Evolution and Ecology (EEP) Program at IIASA.
Dr. Kortz obtained her PhD in Biology from the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom, under the supervision of Professor Anne Magurran. In her PhD, Dr Kortz assessed how a major non-native pine tree is leading to biodiversity change in the Cerrado biodiversity hotspot. Dr Kortz’s research interests concern biodiversity change, biological invasions, conservation of biodiversity and community ecology. Dr Kortz has previously worked for the research project "Effect of climate change on Atlantic rain forest plant species", funded by Conservation International, part of the Project for International Climate Initiative (IKI). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Biological Diversity and Conservation from the Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil.
