IIASA Alumnus Transitions To New Technologies
Beatriz Mayor joined IIASA in February 2017, as a Research Scholar with the Transitions to New Technologies Program (TNT). Specifically, she contributes to the Integrated Solutions for Water, Energy and Land (IS-WEL) project, and is carrying out an integrated multi-dimensional technology assessment of innovations that is of particular relevance to the water-energy-land nexus.
Dr. Mayor holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), an MSc in Environmental Sciences-Integrated Water Management from Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and a PhD in Geology on the topic of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).
Before joining IIASA, Dr. Mayor worked as a researcher and consultant for a variety of organizations. Her research focused on the following topics: Study of water-energy-food trade-offs and management and policy implications, water and environmental impacts of selected energy technologies (hydropower and hydraulic fracturing), water and energy footprint accounting, integrated water management, stakeholder analysis, water-energy-food trends and variables analysis, and prospective Delphi studies. As a consultant, she also worked on the elaboration of proposals for the EU-H2020 program and was involved in two European Projects. In 2015, she also completed an internship at the UNW-DPAC Programme, assisting in the preparation and reporting for the 2015 UN-Water Annual International Zaragoza Conference on Water and Sustainable Development: From Vision to Action.
