RAINS Version 7.2
RAINS 7.2, released in early 1997, includes
the following modules:
- Emission- and cost (EMCO) modules for
SO2, NOx and NH3 emissions,
- a Deposition and critical loads assessment
(DEP) module for acidification and eutrophication,
- an Optimization (OPT) module for multi-pollutant
(SO2, NOx, NH3)/multi-effect
(acidification/eutrophication) optimization, and
- an on-line help system.
The following databases are included
in RAINS 7.2:
- The 'Official Energy Pathway' compiled
from the UN energy database (1990-2010, Status 1996);
- for the Member countries of the EU the
'Conventional Wisdom' energy scenario (1990-2010) of DG-XVII
of the European Commission;
- an 'Agricultural Pathway' up to the year
2010, based on national and international projections;
- source-receptor relationships for acidifying
pollutants compiled by EMEP/MSC-W, for the average meteorology
of 1985-1995;
- the databases on critical loads for acidification
and eutrophication (status September 1996), as supplied by the
Coordination Center for Effects (CCE) at RIVM.
The model and its incorporated databases
represent the state of information as of early 1997 and include
all information used, e.g., for the first two interim reports
of the study on 'Cost-effective
Control of Acidification and Ground-level Ozone in Europe',
carried out for DG-XI of the Commission of the European Communities.
RAINS 7.2 is operational on Windows95/98/NT
platforms (hardware requirements).
The RAINS 7.2 software is available
from IIASA.
The RAINS 7.2 manual is accessible On-line
on the Internet.
