An all-stakeholder gathering was held in Shanghai for the concluding presentations of the joint IIASA and NSFC project on “Assessing the Impact of Climate Change and Intensive Human Activities on China’s Agro-Ecosystem and its Supply Potential.”

For a new project with NSFC, Integrated Analysis and Modeling of Land Use Efficiency and Security under Rapid Agricultural Transformation in China, the IIASA team has produced two methodological working papers in 2013 and made contributions to the first round of the rural household survey in terms of questionnaire design and survey data analysis.

IIASA is cooperating with the Indian Institute of Rural Management (IRMA), working with partners from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan on an invited CARIAA proposal development on "Increasing Resilience of Livelihoods to Climate Change in Glacier and Snowpack dependent River Basins of South Asia."

A new project has begun on rural development and livelihoods in Gujarat; water resource management and livelihoods in Bundelkhand; and soil nutrient management and livelihoods in Kerala.

IIASA held a changing land use Workshop in Gujarat to look at available strategies that may enable vulnerable communities to cope with and adapt to the impending impacts of climate change.
