This will provide globally gridded and internally coherent sets of emission fields of 10 substances, which incorporate latest developments on air pollution legislation around the world.

For the first time, such GAINS scenarios will be used as input for a joint experiment of an ensemble of full Global Climate Circulation models to explore the climate impacts of air pollution control policies. It will also serve as a basis for a re-analysis of concrete options for simultaneously reducing short-lived air pollution and long-lived greenhouse gas emissions, including the relevance of environmentally sound production approaches for shale gas.
