Numerous collaborations between Chinese and IIASA researchers continued in 2013 in areas ranging from China's agricultural policy to demography to air pollution. A significant number of Chinese students took part in IIASA's programs for young scientists.

Collaborations in 2013 helped bring IIASA's systems analysis along with a global perspective and interdisciplinary research expertise to Chinese agricultural policy, demography, energy scenarios, air pollution, and risk mitigation among others. In addition, seven Chinese students won places in the 2013 Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) and five in the first two years of the Southern African YSSP

In 2013, the Mitigation of Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gases (MAG) Program achieved global coverage of its GAINS (Greenhouse gas – Air pollution Interactions and Synergies) tool for the systematic assessment of co-benefits strategies, in close collaboration with a large number of national teams. more
