Samir K.C.

Samir K.C. joined the World Population Program as a Research Scholar in May 2005. His current research focuses on the projection of population by various levels of disaggregation including education and health.

Dr. K.C. received his PhD from the Faculty of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His thesis entitled "Lung Health in Nepal" is a report on the economic evaluation of the World Health Organization’s clinical guidelines for the management of patients with lung diseases for primary health care workers in rural Nepal, as well as a briefing on the challenges faced in conducting such an evaluative study in developing countries.

Dr. K.C. received his master’s degree in statistics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 1997. He was involved in teaching statistics at various university campuses in Kathmandu until 2001; he has also held a position of biostatistician at the Nepal Health Research Council. His major research interest is in developing and applying multi-state population models in demographic analysis and projections.
