Most prominently, POPNET 46 features a summary of the most complete state-of-the-art disaggregated population projections, which were recently published in with Oxford University Press in a collective effort by the Wittgenstein Centre (IIASA, VID/ÖAW, WU). Entitled "World Population and Human Capital in the 21st Century", this book illustrates the importance of national human resource development as a policy that can help achieve sustainable development. The results from the 1056 pages are condensed in the Executive Summary of the book and can be freely downloaded from the IIASA website. Country- and region-specific data and projections can also be explored online and free of charge through the Wittgenstein Centre’s Data Explorer.
POPNET 46 further provides reprints of one letter and two papers published in Science in 2014:
Since 1982 the World Population Program issues the POPNET newsletter for an extensive network of researchers and institutes working in the field of population and sustainable development. On a regular basis collaborators and interested individuals are provided with details of developments at the Program, current research, latest publications and information on forthcoming meetings and conferences.
