Under the theme "Research meets practice: international cooperation for sustainable development" the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) organizes a series of events on a monthly basis. Based on an interdisciplinary scientific focus, they cover a wide array of topics in the context of international development practice.
The 28th event in this series will take place on 25 May under the title "Education or health? What is the key to self-determined family planning?". The event will try to find some answers to the questions what means are best to organize population growth in the coming centuries; which measures from the education and health fields are most effective; and how can synergies be created between those sectors for the support of self-determined famiily planning?
World Population Program Director Wolfgang Lutz was invited to dicuss this topic together with Dr. Heide Richter-Airijoki, head of the GIZ program on development of the health sector in Kenya.
