Susanne Hanger joined IIASA's Risk, Policy and Vulnerability (RPV) Program at the beginning of 2010 to work on climate change adaptation in the European Union. Since March 2011, she is also a PhD candidate at the Institute for Environmental Studies at the Free University in Amsterdam. Her PhD studies focus on regional dimensions of burden-sharing for adaptation. Until 2009, Ms. Hanger studied geography and romance languages at the University of Vienna, specializing in regional development and EU policy with a particular interest in Central and Eastern Europe.
