Anna Scolobig joined the Risk, Policy and Vulnerability (RPV) Program in 2010 as a Post Doctoral Research Scholar. Her main research interests are in the social dimensions of environmental change, public participation in science for policy, human systems' response to disasters and social vulnerability, risk communication, and governance. She has a background in sociology and completed her PhD at the University of Udine (Italy). During her doctoral years, Dr. Scolobig collaborated on several teaching modules on sociology and environmental sociology at the Universities of Udine and Padova.
Prior to joining IIASA, Dr. Scolobig was a lecturer in the theories and techniques of social research at the University of Trieste and researcher at the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia. Presently her research is focused on stakeholder processes for choosing appropriate sets of risk prevention measures and on institutional frameworks for adaptation and mitigation in a multi-hazard environment.
