This workshop is an entry point in building in-house expertise for an effective decision support system of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia MEMR supported by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).
IIASA Research Assistant Ping Yowargana of the Ecosystems Services and Management Program (ESM) will present Techno-economic models and Senior Research Scholar Manfred Strubegger of the Energy Program (ENE) will present Energy models and assessment tools.

Background
Indonesia’s energy sector is faced with multifaceted challenges as described in the recently launched Bandung Energy Scenarios . Bandung Scenarios comprise four pathways of the nation’s plausible energy future up until 2030. According to the scenarios, Indonesia’s energy sector needs to be developed in relevance to challenges coming from: 1) increasing demand for good governance, 2) external challenges namely climate change and international geopolitics, and 3) increasing trend of decentralization both in the form of civic engagement as well as roles of local governments.
