The International Boreal Forest Research Association (IBFRA) was formed in 1991 with the mission to "promote and co-ordinate research to increase the understanding of the role of the circumpolar boreal forest in the global environment and the effects of environmental change upon that role,"
The 17th IBFRA Conference will be held from May 24 to 29, 2015, in Rovaniemi, Finland. The theme for the Conference is: Towards a New Era of Forest Science in Boreal Region, which includes following topics:
IIASA Participation
Several of IIASA's ESM scientists will be attending and giving presentations at the IBFRA 2015 conference. Florian Kraxner will be chairing the Sighting the Future Forests session.
The book entitled "The Future Use of Nordic Forests - a Global Perspective" by E. Westholm, K. Beland Lindahl, F. Kraxner (Eds.) will be launched after Monday's session. Further information on the book can be found here.
