Read how IIASA works with research partners across the globe to deliver world-class research.
Science and policy must work together to achieve a sustainable future for humanity.
Moonil Kim joined IIASA’s Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) Program in 2014 as a participant of the Young Scientists Summer Program and returned to the program in 2015 as a research assistant from Korea University in Seoul, Rep. of Korea. At IIASA, he will work on further developing the KO-FG-Dynamic Model and inter-alia validating and comparing it to ESM’s G4M with respect to forest carbon dynamics in Europe and South Korea.
Mr. Kim received bachelor degrees in Environmental Science and Resource Economics from Korea University in 2012. As a PhD student at Korea University, his research focuses on the modeling of forest growth and forest management optimization for carbon storage and sequestration under climate change using GIS models to study the spatial heterogeneity, and analysis of environmental change using remotely sensed data. He has also participated in several research projects focusing on forest growth, management and model development.
