Géraldine Bocquého joined the Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) Program in April 2012. She is participating in the development of the economic global land-use model GLOBIOM, focusing on deforestation issues and national/regional-level REDD assessment.
She holds an engineering diploma in life sciences from AgroParisTech, with a specialization in rural development. She also completed an MSc degree in energy, environmental and resource economics at Paris X University and ParisTech, and a PhD in applied economics at AgroParisTech in 2012.
Before joining IIASA, Dr. Bocquého’s main research topic was decision-making under risk and its consequences on the adoption of perennial energy crops by farmers. Her work included, inter alia, the setting up of a stochastic farm adoption model and the estimation of farmers’ risk and time preferences through experimental methods.
She was also involved in the design and implementation of agricultural policies and programs targeted at Bolivian small-scale farmers, the French meat industry, and livestock producing organizations.
