Resilience of national and regional economies

ASA research foresights into countries’ alternative future under different scenarios. ASA experiment with both qualitative and quantitative approaches under this theme.

ASA researchers explore national and regional resilience by analyzing the impact of extreme, low-probability and high-impact scenarios of external shocks using qualitative foresight, namely, soft systems mapping approach, as well as quantitative simulation methods based on the agent-based modeling. Overall response to external shocks results from the direct impact of a shock onto a target economic sector[s], as well as from the indirect impact onto other sectors via supply chains and onto the domestic demand because of change in the household incomes.
