Toyama International Conference Center, Toyama, Japan
The meeting gathers some 900 participants from students and researchers to decision makers from all over the world to Toyama, Japan, providing opportunities for coordination, collaboration and cooperation in all areas of Arctic science.
The first part of ASSW includes business meetings of organizations, for example the Forum of Arctic Operators (FARO), Pacific Arctic Group (PAG), International Science Initiative in the Russian Arctic (ISIRA), European Polar Board (EPP), and Association of Arctic Early Career Scientists (APECS).
The second part of the week is allocated to the Third International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARPIII). IIASA is a partner of ICARPIII, initiated by the IIASA Arctic Futures Initiative (AFI) Advisory Board in November 2014. AFI Advisory Board co-chair Ambassador Hannu Halinen is giving an invited keynote presentation at the meeting on “Arctic Research as a Tool for Policy and Business”
AFI is organizing a town hall meeting 29 April at 17:00-18:30 hrs, and also an informal gathering of AFI related participants.
