Established in 1926, CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, is Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research agencies in the world.  CSIRO conducts and oversees research, with a mission to ‘deliver great science and innovative solutions for industry, society and the environment’.

The NMO Secretary for Australia is Ms. Jenny Baxter, CSIRO Group Executive for the Environment.
