Vienna Public Transport

Vienna has an excellent public-transportation system with reliable, clean and convenient service. The Viennese public transport system is made up of trains, trams, buses and an S and U-Bahn network.

Tickets Vienna/Laxenburg
A calendar monthly pass costing €90 entitles you to use all public transport systems in Vienna (also night busses) and, in addition, brings you out to Laxenburg. You can change from underground to tram or bus without having to buy another ticket.

These monthly tickets (ask for the combined zones 100 and 270B) can be purchased at Wien Mitte (across the road from the City Air Terminal), Vienna's West and South Train Stations, or directly from the bus driver.

Tickets for S-Bahn and CAT at the airport
Please note – you need to buy the tickets for the S-Bahn before boarding the train! Ticket machines can be found directly on the platform. The one-way ticket for the S-Bahn is EUR 3.60. This is for two zones and will cover the journey from the airport to the dorm in Simmering using the train and underground. Please refer to the home page of the Vienna airport (Information on S-Bahn-Train)

When using the CAT (city airport train), the total fare will be EUR 10.80 respectively EUR 13.80: one-way ticket CAT = EUR 9  (online fare) or EUR 12 (on board fare)  and one-way underground ticket = EUR 1.80. (the only difference with the CAT is that this train is a bit faster by around 10 minutes).

Train and shuttle bus schedules from the airport to the city can be found here.
