While research is the major mission of IIASA, capacity building and education plays an important role. The Institute’s capacity building activities aim to strengthen the knowledge, abilities, and skills of researchers to conduct systems analysis. IIASA’s major capacity building activities are:

Young Scientists Summer Program

IIASA’s annual 3-month Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) offers research opportunities to talented young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change. From June through August accepted participants work within the Institute’s research programs under the guidance of IIASA scientific staff. Funding is provided through IIASA's 20 National Member Organizations. More

Postdoctoral Research at IIASA

Every year a number of postdoctoral scholarships are available for research on topics related to the IIASA research agenda. For the 2013 program we will accept online applications as of 15 October, 2012. More

Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program

The Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program (SA-YSSP) is a new three-month program for talented young researchers to work with scientists from South Africa and IIASA. It takes place in South Africa from December to February. More
