Opportunities

While research is the major mission of IIASA, capacity building and education plays an important role. The Institute’s capacity building activities aim to strengthen the knowledge, abilities, and skills of researchers to conduct systems analysis. IIASA’s major capacity building activities  are:
Young Scientists Summer Program

Since 1977, IIASA’s annual 3-month Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) offers research opportunities to talented young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change. From June through August accepted participants work within the Institute’s research programs under the guidance of IIASA scientific staff. Funding is provided through IIASA's National Member Organizations. More

Postdoctoral Research at IIASA

Every year 4 postdoctoral scholarships are available for research on topics related to the IIASA research agenda, with two selection periods each year in December and June. More

Southern African Systems Analysis Centre (SASAC)

Building on the successes of the Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program (SA-YSSP), the South African NMO and Government (Department of Science and Technology) have decided to evolve and expand its activities to develop capacity for systems analysis in South Africa and the wider region by launching the new Southern African Systems Analysis Centre (SASAC).  More
