Pavel Kabat today commences his appointment as Director of IIASA. Professor Kabat brings more than 30 years experience in water, land, climate, and global change research and science leadership to the position.

Prior to joining IIASA he was Chair of Earth System Science and Climate Studies at Wageningen University. Prof. Kabat becomes IIASA’s tenth Director following his appointment by the IIASA Council in late 2011
