Protecting biodiversity and mitigating climate change through REDD
A new study published in Nature Climate Change (5 Feb) shows that while the current rate of deforestation threatens to cause massive worldwide species extinctions, prompt implementation of an effective carbon payment system to avoid deforestation could deliver major biodiversity conservation benefits, while also helping to mitigate climate change.
