30 June 2016
During this symposium, scientists will discuss the concerns from NGOs and governmental licensing authorities on how to properly assess combined effects of successive actions on the environment. Kabat will give a keynote speech on 1 July – the day of presentations and discussions. Kabat will be joined by keynote speaker Benjamin Halpern (Bren School Environmental Science and Management, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA). This will be preceded by a field trip on Texel on 30 June.
The aim of this international symposium is to jointly come forward with feasible options to deal with the complexity of cumulative effects inherent to the suite of activities, scales and uncertainties.
