On 23 April, IIASA Director/CEO Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat and IIASA Secretary Margaret Goud Collins traveled to Kiev, Ukraine, where they met with Ukrainian research leaders to discuss new and ongoing collaborations. IIASA collaborates with Ukraine on research ranging from land use and forestry to climate, biomass, and air quality, and many projects that intersect these areas.
During his visit, Kabat gave a public keynote lecture at the Ukrainian Festival of Science, entitled “Systems Science for Policy Support.” During the festival, Kabat was awarded an honorary doctorate from the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine (NASU). NASU has been the National Member Organization (NMO) for Ukraine since it gained IIASA membership in 1994.
